Quick Picks – Week 6, 2013

quick-picks

As Valentine’s Day is next week, this week’s quick pick of internet finds has a focus on romance. As usual, good things come in threes…

Weddings

For a romantic wedding keepsake, why not get the lyrics of one of your wedding songs turned into a Custom JukeBlox Typography Tile by artist Suzanna Anna. She’ll do any lyrics in any colour, with your names and the date of your wedding at the bottom. So sweet!

Starry Night Paperie’s My Sweetheart, wedding stationery is appropriately named for a romantic theme, and is just as lovely as its name.

If you’re planning to propose on Valentines Day and are feeling a bit uncertain about the etiquette, there’s a wealth of advice out there on the dos and don’ts.

Art

This week’s art selection is a bit of a mix, all centred on romance of course. Enjoy!

Danny at My Darkened Eyes has collated some of artist Karen Tarlton’s lovely oil paintings of couples out walking.

Disney Animation’s short film Paperman is just gorgeous.

If you’re in Brisbane, why not check out the Reduce, Reuse, Romance exhibition curated by Reverse Garbage. Focused on love and romance, exhibiting artists were tasked with using salvaged and scavenged materials to create Valentines Day gifts. It’s on from 9-28 February 2013.

Random Asides

Why not get old-fashioned with your valentines this year with Linecarta’s Love Letter Kit.

How about a chocolate box of lip glosses rather than real chocolates? I’m a complete sucker for lip gloss, which is why I’m strangely attracted to this one.

Did you know that on Valentines Day in Japan the focus is on women giving chocolates to men. There’s a whole separate day in March when men get to reciprocate.

Have a great weekend!
