Quick Picks – Week 7, 2013

quick-picks

Here’s this week’s quick pick of internet finds. As usual, good things come in threes…

Weddings

Queensland Brides has been counting down their top 30 wedding trends for 2013 on their blog. Trend number 29 is fun photos which is a trend I’m happy to follow wholeheartedly!

Polka Dot Bride claims to have Australia’s first blog especially for grooms – Polka Dot Groom. It’s nice to see someone focus on the boys.

If you’re in Brisbane this weekend and you’re looking for a little vintage inspiration why not visit the folk at a very vintage wedding fair? It’s on from 10 – 4pm on Saturday and Sunday, at the Bleeding Heart Gallery at 166 Ann Street, in the Brisbane CBD. With only 34 exhibitors it’s a bit more boutique, and possibly less overwhelming, than the typical bridal expo.

Art

This week I’ve been discovering and rediscovering some great illustrators.

Marc Johns. His serious drawings make me smile.

Indre Bankauskaite. I love her range, from cute penguins to whimsical butterfly women. Her work definitely goes on my wish list.

Joseph Senior. I want all of the illustrations in his Hello Kitty collection.

Random Asides

How cute are these tea towels? If you’re going to have to do dull things like dry dishes, at least you can do it in style.

I’ve just discovered the existence of Printstagram. Geoff’s phone is usually adorned with stickers, so this might be far more useful than it should be.

Geoff is very excited about the new Alfa 4C. (It’s a car. No, I don’t understand either.)

Have a great weekend!
