Here’s this week’s quick pick of internet finds. As usual, good things come in threes…
Weddings
♥ Polka Dot Bride has something for the groom looking for a little Victorian flair on his wedding day with a tutorial on making your own Steampunk inspired buttonhole and cufflinks. I love the whole Steampunk look, but always find myself wishing that the clockwork inspired accessories actually worked…
♥ Queensland Brides has some suggestions for alternative headwear if you’re not so keen on the traditional veil.
♥ Your wedding cake doesn’t need to be a multi-tiered to be fabulous. The Knot has some gorgeous single tier wedding cakes to inspire you to keep it small.
Art
♥ The illustrations in Saatchi & Saatchi’s campaign for the Schusev State Museum of Architecture Moscow take inspiration from icebergs, showing significant buildings as the tips of much bigger buildings hidden within vast underground caverns.
Via [Faith is Torment].
♥ I love the sense of motion and strength invoked by Lorenzo Quinn’s Force of Nature installations. This is another installation I’m going to have to seek out in person.
Via [My Modern Met].
♥ Artist Kasia Kerwinska has produced some beautifully etherial images in her Fairy tales photographs.
Via [My Darkened Eyes].
Random Asides
♥ Vintage and Retro Clothing Shop Glory Box is celebrating their first birthday with a runway show at the Bleeding Heart Gallery on 3 May 2013. I’m giving you a nice early heads up to make sure you don’t miss out on what promises to be a great night filled with fashion parades, live music, an art auction and live burlesque! Tickets are available at the shop or via Eventbrite for $20. All proceeds go to Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery.
♥ We’ve finally subscribed to the BBC’s global iPlayer service. It may not be completely up to date, but I now have access to far more British television on demand than seems sensible.
♥ It’s hard to escape the horror of the news that came out of Boston this week. This post by Gala Darling probably aligns best with how I feel.
That’s it for another week’s quick picks. I hope that you have a great weekend filled with happiness and adventure!
