Quick Picks 39, 2013 – featuring tutus for flower girls, zoetropes, and Riverfire!

Quick Picks

Welcome to Friday lovely people! Here’s this week’s quick pick of internet finds for you to enjoy as we cruise towards the weekend. As usual, good things come in threes…

Weddings

Polka Dot Groom, has some advice on why you might want to buy rather than hire suits for your wedding. If nothing else, I figure if the bride and her bridesmaids get nice new outfits, then so should the groom and the groomsmen!

Girls who love the idea of going truly vintage are going to love Rue de Seine’s Vintage Collection. They have a selection of one of a kind vintage wedding gowns from the early 1900’s to the late 1970’s.

If you have little girls in your wedding party, you might want to consider dressing them in these gorgeous tutus from Nan’s Garden. They even have some for not so little girls.

Art & Design

Artist Marc-Antoine Locatelli has teamed up with dancer Lucas Boirat to create Nuance, a captivating interplay between a dancer and a light. Note: this link will take you to a video that may play automatically.

The advertising team for XBox game Forza 5 have used billboards featuring stills from the game, a race track and a modified McLaren to create this amazing zoetrope. Note: this link will take you to a video that may play automatically.

I have a bit of a thing for paper windmills/pinwheels, so I’m wishing I could pop over to the Victoria and Albert Museum right now to see Najla El Zein Design Studio’s Wind Portal.

Random Asides

If you an Apple user, you’ll know that iOS7 has been released. It’s taking me awhile to adjust to the new look.

The idea of making a list of things you want to do or achieve in life isn’t new, but Go Mighty makes the process a little more social with their life lists. They’re still relatively new, but the #goAustralia competition sponsored by Air New Zealand and Tourism Australia seems to helping with membership.

The Brisbane Festival finishes up this weekend, which means only one thing – Riverfire! It’s on at 7pm on Saturday, 28 September 2013.

That’s it for another week’s quick picks. Have a great weekend!

P.S. We don’t receive payment or gifts to list products or services in our Quick Picks, we link to stuff because we like it.
